Muster - Companies 

The individual companies within the area of each command will conduct the first monthly muster of the year.  These musters should, among other things, review the responsibility of the company commanders, NCOs and the volunteers in respect to the company, regiment and brigade; insure the re-enlistment of all company members; examine the plan of recruiting prospective volunteers; review upcoming musters and the commitment of the company to the overall command.

Camp of Instruction, Camp Groce

Hempstead, Texas 

A Camp of Instruction will be conducted for all branches of the Texas Brigade.  This muster is scheduled the first weekend of the month at Camp Groce near Hempstead, Texas.  We will begin to set up camp on Friday the 4th.  A proper military camp will be set with the full use of canvas.  Instruction will begin early Saturday morning.  Later in the afternoon weather permitting, the brigade will march away to a remote piece of the property in an effort of further training and preparation for campaigning.  You are advised to bring light rations for this part of the exercise. We will have the wagons for support.  Water will be available and transportation for backpacks or bedrolls, should a soldier be unable to carry same.  A sham battle is planned for Sunday.  Be prepared to stay the entire weekend to reap the full benefit from this Camp of Instruction.

Cross - Timbers Campaign

Gainesville, Tex.

The March muster will again be a call for the entire brigade to be joined for action.  This will be a campaign against the enemy.  Carrying the name of the Battle of the Crossroads, the location is near Gainesville in north Texas.  We will go against the blue coats from the north.  Here will be an opportunity to further our ability to be on campaign.  The entire brigade will remain in the field all day Saturday engaging the enemy.  Saturday night we will sleep on arms in the best position we can find to defend against the opposition and renew the fight on Sunday.  More on this muster will be published in future issues and orders.
